Joe Goode is a choreographer/writer/director, a gifted artist, celebrated for always creating a “deeply felt, profoundly human experience” in the theater. An innovator in the field of dance, he integrates movement with spoken word, song, and visual imagery.

2012 / 2013 Touring Season:

The Rambler

Quintessential San Francisco Based dance/theatre artist Joe Goode presents a new, evening length work, The Rambler. The Rambler is the American character who travels with no particular destination in mind. He is instead the restless, peripatetic soul who can’t stay put. What is the role of The Rambler – a catalyst? – a fly in society’s ointment? And for himself, is The Rambler just a renegade or the pilgrim on a quest for enlightenment?

The performance begins as the audience enters the performance venue through a lobby  installation that travels with the production.

Collaborating once again with Joe Goode will be Basil Twist, the extraordinary creator of puppets and other magical things for his own productions and productions by theatre and opera companies around the world. Mr. Twist will be responsible for creating the gallery walk-through environment at the beginning of The Rambler.

The touring production will also provide for several opportunities for community engagement developing the themes of “discovery” and “engagement”. .

“I want to pierce the veil of toughness that we all have in our lives and to uncover the vulnerable center, the confused, flailing human part of us that we conceal and avoid." –Joe Goode
“The frontier between dance and theater is banished. The myth of the mainstream crumbles, and the canon is enriched by his witty and powerful spectacles” –San Francisco Chronicle
