Meryl Tankard, Australia’s iconic dance choreographer creates another masterpiece for International dance audiences. With The Oracle, she brings forth a stunning new work driven by the power of Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring, inspired by Nijinsky’s traumatic life, and imbued with the spirit of Ingmar Bergman’s “Virgin Spring.” As in Nijinsky’s original 1913 choreography for Stravinsky’s masterpiece, Tankard’s The Oracle captures a furious vitality and pagan sensuality but now re-contextualized for a 21st century audience.
