< The Laramie Residency

A Decade in the Life of
an American Town

The groundbreaking play, The Laramie Project, energized an awareness of American attitudes about violence against gay people in America and introduced audiences to the vision and techniques of director Moisés Kaufman. Ten years after the original production of The Laramie Project emerged as the most performed play in America, Kaufman and his collaborators in Tectonic Theatre Project revisited the community of Laramie on the 10th anniversary of the death of Matthew Shepard. Thus, in 2009 a companion piece to The Laramie Project was created; The Laramie Project: Ten Years Later – an Epilogue. Together these two plays form the core of The Laramie Residency.

The Laramie Residency features original cast members of The Laramie Project in a community for a one-week residency. The residency provides for substantial teaching and coaching in the “Moment Work” technique developed by Mr. Kaufman and Tectonic Theater. Included in the residency is a performance of The Laramie Project and The Laramie Project: Ten Years Later – an Epilogue over the course of two evenings.

< 33 Variations

Written and directed by Moisés Kaufman, music by Ludwig van Beethoven. 33 Variations was nominated for five Tony awards for its Broadway run in 2009. The nature of artistic obsession is explored through Beethoven’s struggle to turn a benign tune into his masterpiece, The Diabelli Variations, in the last few years of his life. 33 Variations brings a rare level of intelligence to touring theater of Broadway scale.
